A new management philosophy has emerged in the headlines, and organizations are adopting it to improve their performance. Dr. Howard Gitlow released the Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management theory, which contains three components and a method of application that may help an organization pursue their mission. This idea emphasizes how crucial management is for an organization and how, when done effectively, employees’ effort can be minimized and the organization can realize tremendous success. Dr. Gitlow’s theory is being presented in partnership with the University of Miami’s Herbert School of Business and the School of Continuing Studies Division of Continuing Education and Information Systems.

A New Management Approach

There are several management styles that organizations have used in the past, but they, like many other things, have become outmoded. There haven’t been any important advancements in the world of management until now. Dr. Gitlow wants Deming-based Lean Six Sigma management to be promoted by organizations, universities, and individuals. Dr. Gitlow has designed two 20-hour MOOCs on Deming-based Lean Six Sigma management to make it practical and learnable. Go to elevate.miami.edu right now and sign up for “Deming-based Process Improvement,” the first MOOC, and “Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management,” the second MOOC. Completion of the second MOOC results in A Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Yellow Belt.

The theory is divided into three parts: the macro model, the micro model, and the management model. The Macro model creates a a interlocking and cascading system of mission statements, job descriptions, with objectives and metrics (indicators) that can be readily followed by all stakeholder of an organization. The Micro model is used to investigate why a given metric is not yielding desired results results, and what is the cause of the problem. Under this management style, the manager will talk to the employee and advise them professionally on the tools and methods of Deming-based Lean Six Sigma Management. Deming-based Lean Six Sigma management is a data-driven management system, data must be correctly analyzed to make appropriate improvements in the problematic process. It does not emphasize punishing the person who works in the process, but rather explains how to improve the flowchart of the problematic process to get the desired outcomes.
