Myths About Exfoliating And Scrubbing
We are all more or less familiar with the two words exfoliator or scrub. However, many of us need to think about it before using it in our skincare routine. There is no end to our metabolism with the skin! I am using the product in good quality, still following the rules, but there are various side effects on the skin, such as itching problems, skin burns, redness, rashes, pimples, or rashes. Then many of us just keep blaming the product. But is this the case? But it is not. Exfoliating or scrubbing in the same way, we also make a lot of mistakes without understanding. So today we will learn about some important things before exfoliating the skin.
Why do exfoliate?
Exfoliators or scrubs should be used at least two to three times a week, regardless of skin type. Why?
1) The first function of the exfoliator or scrub is to clean the old dead cells in our skin. It makes our skin look much brighter and more vibrant than before.
2) Many of us complain when we go to use a lot of skincare or makeup products, they do not fit properly! Isnโt it? One of the reasons is that these dead cells remain in the skin. Therefore, as a result of using exfoliators or scrubs, skin care products, especially makeup-related products, easily sit on the face.
3) For those who have problems with open pores, using regular exfoliation or scrub will minimize it.
What are the 5 misconceptions about exfoliating or scrubbing?
I learned some basic things about using exfoliators or scrubs in skin care. Now, letโs take a look at some of the common misconceptions about using an exfoliator or scrub.
1) Exfoliating or scrubbing will increase my acne problem!
Exfoliating or scrubbing increases the problem of acne, the idea is completely wrong! But yes! I will say the same thing here, I have already said that each of us has a different skin type. So skin problems are also different. In addition, the skin of each of us can be sensitive to contact with individual elements. People with oily skin are more likely to have pimples. So they have to choose all the ingredients and choose the product that does not cause any side effects on the skin. For example, for oily skin, chemical scrubs are better than physical exfoliates or scrubs, which means they are softer for the skin. For acne-prone skin, it is best to use a scrub that contains glycolic acid or salicylic acid.
2) My dry skin will become drier using an exfoliator or scrub!
As mentioned earlier, everyone needs to use an exfoliator or scrub regardless of skin type. The idea that using dry skin exfoliation or scrub will make you drier and the problem will get worse is not correct. But yes! In addition to using dry skin exfoliation or scrub, you must apply a moisturizer of your choice according to your skin type. All of us have dead skin cells. Regardless of the skin type, it is important to keep these dead cells clean for everyone. Otherwise, problems like rashes and pimples appear after this. Exfoliators or scrubs should also be used at least 2 to 3 times a week for dry skin.
3) Exfoliating or scrubbing will cause side effects on my sensitive skin!
You have to choose the product by understanding and listening to any skin type. However, for those with sensitive skin, there is no substitute for it. When buying a product, make sure that the ingredients in it are suitable for sensitive skin. Exfoliating or scrubbing with the product without understanding it can cause problems in many cases. However, the idea that exfoliating or scrubbing will be like that, is completely wrong. In that case, you must refrain from using the ingredients that your skin reacts to if you see those ingredients in the ingredient list. A cleanser containing fruit or plant enzymes can be used once or twice a week as a scrub. Of course, extra scrubbing cannot be done.
4) For better results, I prefer to use exfoliate at night!
There is no need to use exfoliator only at night! You can add an exfoliator to any part of the day care routine or night care routine as per your need and convenience. However, never exfoliate or scrub the skin twice a day. This can damage the skin. And of course, donโt forget to use a moisturizer!
5) Exfoliating or scrub around the eyes will reduce the dark feeling!
At the same time, it is a misconception as well as very harmful for the skin! Never use an exfoliator or scrub on the eye area. The skin in our eye area is much more sensitive. So using an exfoliator or scrub can be counterproductive instead of good results.
Here it is! I came to know about some of the common but very common misconceptions about exfoliating or scrubbing. No product will give us the expected results unless we know the essentials about our skin and product before use. Facewash or moisturizer sounds as easy as it sounds, but you donโt have to scrub or exfoliate. But if we understand things a little and start using them. So, according to the skin type of the person, we have to understand all the aspects of skincare from the beginning and start skin care. Also, do not forget to check the quality of the product!
